COVID – 19 POLICIES & PROCEDURES

As we enter our 39th year of dance excellence, Chickee’s Dance World is committed to creating the healthiest, happiest, and safest environment for our dancers, families, teachers, staff, guests and the community. Please remember this is a fluid situation and the guidelines may change often and rapidly. We ask for your patience as polices & procedures may change. We will communicate any and all changes as they occur. We understand this is a lot of information. If you have any questions/concerns, please contact us. We are here to help! MASK MANDATE UPDATE – 6/30/22:
Following Worcester Public Schools, masks are not mandated at CDW 3/8/22. Mask – wearing will be left up to the discretion of the parents, students and teachers. CDW will continue to maintain safe practices in the classroom and will continue to follow the guidance of the board of health. At any time, CDW reserves the right to reinstate the mask mandate. Should your dancer not feel well, please do not send them to class. As always, thank you for your trust and patience as we continue to navigate COVID-19.
General Guidelines:
- If your dancer has experienced any COVID-19 Symptoms i.e. fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, loss of taste/smell nausea, or vomiting and/or diarrhea or in general has not been feeling well, please DO NOT bring them to dance.
- All dancers, teachers and staff must show no signs or symptoms of COVID-19 for 5 days before entering the dance studio.
- In the event of a government mandated shut – down or a COVID – 19 exposure causing a studio shut down, CDW’s tuition policies will remain in place.
Social Distancing:
- All dancers, teachers & staff will maintain space throughout the majority, if not the entire class.
- There will be a limited number of dancers/teachers/assistants allowed in each studio.
- The waiting room/lobby will be closed to all parents, siblings, family members, etc. Dancers will be greeted at the entrance door, by a member of the CDW staff, and escorted to their designated space in their assigned studio.
- All dancers will exit and be picked up, at the conclusion of their class at the door. No child will be will be left unattended and children 9 & under will not be allowed to exit the building without a parent, family member, etc.
- Class start and end times will be staggered as best as possible to eliminate gatherings at the entrance/exit.
- Each dancer will have a blocked off area to dance as well as a designated cubby space or basket to keep their personal belongings.
Hygiene Protocols:
- Alcohol-based hand sanitizer will be available at the entrance/exit to the WBC and at the studio for all students, teachers and staff both in the lobby and in all four studios.
- Dancers must arrive to the studio dressed appropriately for their class.
- Street shoes must be removed before entering each studio.
- Dancers should only bring what is necessary for class. No big dance bags, stuffed animals, pillows etc., will be allowed. Everything brought into the studio must remain in the studio with your dancer in their designated cubby/basket area.
- Water bottles MUST have the dancer’s name on it and MUST leave the studio with the dancer. Bottled water bought at the studio will be marked with the students name on it.
- Any belongings left in the studio will be thrown away at the end of the night, so please make sure your dancer collects all of his/her belongings before leaving the parking lot.
- All tumbling mats and classrooms will be disinfected throughout the day.
- Bathrooms will only be used by dancers and CDW staff. Bathroom breaks will be organized for each class room and will be cleaned after each break. Hand washing with soap and water and sanitizing will be required before returning to their class. Having your dancer use the bathroom before coming to class would be a great help.
Drop Off/Pick Up Protocols:
Entering the Studio:
- Please arrive no earlier than 5-7 minutes before your class time. You MAY USE the stairs or elevator to descend to the lower level.
- Please do not be late to class. Doors will close 5 minutes after the beginning of class.
- Line up outside the studio door using the marked lines. We will open the door when it is time to enter.
- Upon entering you will meet a CDW staff member at the CHECK IN station.
- Dancers 9 & under should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- PARENTS of dancers old enough to descend to the studio on their own – PLEASE WAIT UNTIL CLASS TIME BEGINS before leaving. We need to ensure that your dancer has no fever and answers no the questions above before allowing him/her into the studio.
- Once cleared at the CHECK IN STATION – dancers will sanitize, put shoes in their bags (or hold them), and be directed to their numbered space in the studio.
- Parents are not allowed to wait inside of the studio suite for the duration of class.
Exiting the Studio:
- Parents – Please arrive no earlier than 5 – 7 minutes prior to the ending of the class lining up in the hallway.
- Please arrive at the ending of class. Late picks ups will not be allowed.
- We will open the door and call dancers in order of parents picking up.
- Dancers will gather their belongings, sanitize and exit the studio.
- If your dancer is 9 & over and given permission to exit the studio unaccompanied we will allow it.
Staffing & Operations:
- All CDW Staff will be educated on social distancing, hygiene and cleaning protocols.
- CDW will maintain a complete list of dancers and staff for each class and any other persons who remain on-site for a sustained period of time.
- All parents are highly encouraged to use the Parent Portal on the CDW website to pay tuition. If paying by check or cash please put the payment in an envelope clearly marked with the student’s name and the purpose of the payment, give it to the front desk or the teacher of your dancer’s class, you will receive a receipt in your email when the payment is posted. Credit cards can be run at the studio as long as someone is at the front desk or if you make arrangements with CDW.
- Meetings with the directors at CDW to discuss classes, accounts, etc. should be initiated through email, cdw4dance@outlook.com, and then if needed, a phone call.
Cleaning & Disinfecting:
- Class times have been staggered to allow for the cleaning of each studio (doorknobs, floors, and high touch areas) before the next class begins. Late drop off or pick up of dancers is NOT allowed.
- In order to do our very best, keeping our studio safe and our dance families, students and staff safe, CDW has hired ElectriClean, Inc., experts in surface sanitation who will come in and sanitize our entire space and all equipment. Please go on to their website to learn about the effectiveness of their services, ElectriClean.net. We are investing in the equipment to frequently sanitize the studios, equipment etc., ourselves. As always CDW will continue to provide the absolute best services for our students.
Just A Reminder:
Chickee’s Dance World cannot completely prevent you (or your children) from becoming exposed to, contacting, and/or spreading COVID-19 while utilizing its services. While it is our intention to operate in complete compliance with all state and federal regulations issued with respect to COVID-19 safety protocols, it is not possible to completely prevent against the presence of the disease. Therefore if you choose to utilize the services of or enter into any premises managed or controlled by Chickee’s Dance World, you may risk exposing yourself (or your child{ren}) to and/or increasing your risk of contracting and/or spreading COVID-19. What to do when:
*PCR and/or Rapid tests are accepted including the at-home tests.

Dancer is exposed to a known positive person | Dancer must receive a negative test day 2 or later post exposure date. If you elect to not get tested, dancer can quarantine for 10 days before returning as long as they show no symptoms. | Yes, the dancer must get a test on or after the 2nd day from the date of exposure. |
Dancer is exposed to a potential or presumed positive person | Wait for the potential exposure person to notify you of their test results (dancer should not attend dance until results of exposure are known and confirmed). Dancer is experiencing symptoms, even mild, including but not limited to fever, cough (even mild), sneezing, sore throat, headache, runny nose or congestion, fatigue, new loss of taste or smell, stomach upset, body aches | The fastest way to get back to dance is to have a negative test result.
